Sixteen years after the first “Tranquilo”, IN EXTREMO return to the concept with “Tranquilo II”, a new collection that reworks material from more than three decades of the band’s history. Across 17 songs, familiar classics, concert favorites and newer tracks are completely rearranged, moving far beyond a simple unplugged approach.
The album mixes swing, rockabilly, ska, reggae and Eastern European influences with the historical instruments and melodies that have always been central to IN EXTREMO’s sound. Rather than presenting stripped-down versions, the band rebuilds the songs from the ground up, giving old material a noticeably different character.
Several guests join the sessions, including Oliver “SaTyr” Pade and Niel Mitra from FAUN, as well as violinist Justin Ciuche. Doro Pesch appears on “Feine Seele”, Laura Fella of FAUN guests on “Liam”, while Monchi and Max from FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET take part in “Störtebeker”.
“Tranquilo II” also includes a completely new IN EXTREMO song, “Heute wird der Himmel brennen”, making the album more than just a retrospective project.
The deluxe CD edition expands the release with the exclusive “Sternhagelvoller” bonus EP. Its centerpiece is a six-minute XXL version of “Sternhagelvoll”, recorded with musicians connected to FEUERSCHWANZ, d’Artagnan, FAUN, TANZWUT, SUBWAY TO SALLY, VERSENGOLD, FIDDLER’S GREEN, CORVUS CORAX, HAGGEFUGG, STORMSEEKER and FABULA.
The bonus EP also contains another brand-new song, “Amontillado”, available exclusively on this edition, along with a special version of “Ave Maria” recorded together with METAKLAPA.
