Age of Life – Emergence – Part I – 2026

Age of Life has announced the release of its debut album, Emergence – Part I, scheduled for October 30, 2026. The project is the work of Chris Burda, co-founder of post-rock duo Collapse Under The Empire, who is using a creative hiatus from his main project to develop an ambitious new solo concept centered on the evolution of life on Earth.

Age of Life is planned as a long-form musical journey unfolding across 2026 and 2027. The story will span two interconnected albums, with the complete project developing over almost two years and combining music with a broader narrative about the origins and evolution of life.

For Emergence – Part I, Burda draws inspiration from cinematic film scores, atmospheric post-rock, electronic music, art rock and the melancholic sonic character of the 1980s. These influences are brought together through expansive instrumental arrangements designed to create an immersive atmosphere while following the album’s evolutionary and emotional storyline.

The first album consists of eight instrumental compositions inspired by the first 542 million years of Earth’s history. Each composition represents a particular evolutionary era while also corresponding to an emotional stage within the larger narrative.

Rather than following the conventional album-release cycle, Age of Life is being developed as a carefully structured long-term project, with the music and story unfolding gradually across the two planned releases.

Emergence – Part I was written, performed and produced entirely by Chris Burda, with mixing handled by Lennard Clément. The album will be released on October 30, 2026.
