Gilding the Lilly just exudes all the sights, smells, and sounds that brought us to his table in the first place. But if an entire album plus of more than worthy compositions isn’t enough, our favorite troubadour poet front loads the whole shebang with the best tracks.

The rollicking rock and soul of “Baptism By Fire” kicking off things with mighty fine honky tonk piano from ex-Magnum plinker Mark Stanway before “Cadillac Man” drops a solid dose of classic Tyla tunage. Stanway‘s better half Mo Birch slides in to soul up things up even more with some nice backup vocals.
