ROGER LAPOINTE – Handle With Care (1991)

As requested, here’s a rarity from the late ’80s / early ’90s Canadian AOR scene: ROGER LAPOINTE 1991’s album “Handle With Care“. During the ’80s Roger was member of various underground melodic rock bands like Nonstop, however he started to write songs for his own solo debut.

Despite independently released, “Handle With Care” production is very good sporting the classic pristine sound from the Canuck stuff of this ilk. Lapointe co-produced the whole thing with the help of talented REGATTA leader Matthew Gerard, so you know what to expect here; elegant guitars, sweet keys and smooth vocals.
Musically “Handle With Care” brings to mind, of course, of REGATTA, but also JIMMY DAVIS & JUNCTION, DON HENLEY’s first solo album, EDDIE MONEY, BENNY MARDONES, etc. It’s singer-songwriter AOR / rock&pop music really well done.

This original 1991 CD pressing is extremely rare, even absent in the biggest music databases like Discogs. There was an earlier version with different cover art titled ‘Tie You Up’ released under the banner “Lapointe’, and later in 2006 Roger did another self-released pressing, again with a new cover.
A much sought after piece by AOR fans and collectors. RARE
