Meldrum – A Toast to Romance 2012

NOW!

Biography MELDRUM is a multinational hard rock/metal band that has toured worldwide with Lemmy Kilmister’s Motörhead, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, Sepultura, Danzig, Nashville Pussy, as well as sharing the stage with many more. Touting a combination of mammoth vocal styles along with aggressively melodic vocals, mind bending guitar riffs and a rhythm section that creates fiercely bombastic grooves, this is what gives MELDRUM their unique, cutting edge sound. Featuring a new lineup in 2008, their newest members include metal vocalist Michele Madden (Tourette’s) and Laura Christine (Warface) on bass guitar. Michelle Meldrum, raised by parents in the entertainment business, began her career when she and drummer, Gene Hoglan, started their first band Wargod. Gene went on to notoriety with Death, Dark Angel, Testament, Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad and many others, while Michelle founded Phantom Blue (on Shrapnel, Roadrunner, and Geffen Records). While her career was flourishing

TONY DESIMONE – AS WE GO ROUND THE SUN (EP) 2012

NOW!

On the heels of last years long-player, The Second Time Around, singer songwriter Tony Desimone offers an EP of five songs, As We Go ‘Round the Sun. I almost took a pass on the EP until I noticed he was covering one of my favorite Elvi songs, Suspicious Minds. More on this in a moment.

The other four songs are original to Desimone. The offer his traditional excellent lyricism and easy light melodic rock sound. The title track is lighter fare. The Rapture and The Line on My Horizon more electric, with great female vocal accompaniment. Of the originals here, the former is likely my favorite track. U & I has some odd vocal intonation from Desimone.
