Heart – Fanatic 2012
NOW!TWO CANDLES…
Heart’s 14th studio album, Fanatic, ranks as one of the Wilson Sisters most rock & roll albums to date. With Grammy-winning producer Ben Mink at the helm (who also produced their last album, Red Velvet Car), these ten essential performances by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are a celebration of their life spirit: Ann and Nancy are fanatics about love, art and truth. Includes the title track “Fanatic,” “Dear Old America,” and “Million Miles.”

Ivory Moon – Dark Time 2012
NOW!!
Italy’s Ivory Moon returns after a five year recording absence to offer their third release, Dark Time. In that time period, the band has added a new female lead singer, Gabriella Aleo, to their vocal tandem which also includes Sandro Manicone.
Typical of the genre, Aleo adds an operatic style made common by other female singers in similar bands. Also, typical of Ivory Moon is their propensity for symphonic, even epic at times, power metal in the European tradition in general, and the Italian style, specifically.
The arrangements are large, offering the Aleo-Manicone duo of soaring vocals, power metal swiftness, lots of orchestral keyboards, and uplifting guitar solos. It’s all the stuff that makes fans of European symphonic metal power metal drool.
Hexatonica – El Visionario (2012)
Published on the Musea Parallèle label in 2012, “El Visionario” is the third rendition by the band, second one recorded in a studio. Despite the presence of two guitarists, Abel VALENTE and Carlos CATTANEO, and the upbeats and polyrhythmics of Juan GASCO and Sergio TOPHAM in drums and bass, and not to mention an obvious taste for heavy-metal, the music played by the fivesome has unquestionably a symphonic flavor, which leaves plenty of room for keyboards (Nahuel ACOSTA), and melody. With eight tracks composed by drummer and producer Juan GASCO, and one by former keyboard player Diego Yanivello, this album lies at the crossroads between LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, PINK FLOYD and EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, and OPETH. In the end, the listener might even find some resemblances with Jaime ROSAS, or even the compatriots of NEXUS. Nine tracks performed with great mastery, that should bring the Prog(d)heads out there back to life!
