NOW!Gremmo…
James Heaton has been playing guitar since 1984, inspired at first by Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai, he later discovered Joe Satriani and finally Jimi Hendrix.
James has a passion for Hendrix’s fuzzface sound as well as an infatuation of cello’s and violins. Combining the two he developed a unique sound that mimics the cellos throaty singing voice and the dirty feel of an overdriven Marshall amp.
A self confessed effects addict, James utilizes all the sounds he can find from slides, to ebows, to guitar synths, even chrome steel guitar picks. All mixed with the haunting melodic minor scales that James so loves.
NOW!
The history of Portugal’s female-fronted metal band Enchantya is a bit confusing. The promotional material states they have been around since 2004, but then list a back catalog of three albums between 2001 and 2003. What? The material then announces that Dark Rising is their debut album for Massacre Records. Confused?
If I would have known Enchantya included death vocals in their arrangements I probably would not have downloaded the digital promo pack. Nearly every song has moments of this horrible growling. It’s nearly pathetic, some of the worst death metal vocals I’ve ever heard, even as accent. It’s notable in the press material that no credit is given to the person responsible. That’s good as whomever this is should be canned immediately, and the band should think twice about this direction for the vocal arrangements in the future. It simply does not become them.
NOW!LOVE MORE…

What’s a review of an album by Paul Carrack doing in THE number one blues and soul magazine? Simple; it’s all about the music. The world’s oldest black music magazine prides itself on having broad tastes and knowing our readers do too.
And as Mr Carrack is actually a soul singer, he belongs here in the same way James Morrison did too.
Paul may be better known for his commercial exploits as a voice for hire on Mike and The Mechanics “The Living Years,”and “Over My Shoulder,” fronting Squeeze on their classic “Tempted,” and penning/singing the Ace winner “How Long,” but on his solo stuff and his concerts, this Sheffield boy keeps it real and mega soulful in heaps.
