MINDWARS was created in the Fall of 2013 by the desire of two individuals who wanted to bring the sound of metal from the 1980s to the current power of 2014. Mike Alvord formerly of HOLY TERROR and Roby Vitari formerly of JESTER BEAST, met by chance in 1989 when HOLY TERROR was touring Europe in support of their 1988 release Mind Wars.

Kory Clarke is indeed a very busy man, just think of WARRIOR SOUL, his trip to TROUBLE, of which there are unfortunately no sound document, or his solo albums. Exactly such he now presents to with “Payback’s A Bitch”. And after several decades in the business, the man knows exactly what he’s doing. And he makes with exuberant creativity and disrespect for musical boundaries.

Despite being Italian, the project is much more influenced by English/American prog bands, both vintage and modern, and has very little in common with the proper RPI bands – even by band leader Fabio Serra’s admission! The band had a strong AOR element, sing with confident English vocals, and describing some of their music as a proggier Asia would not be out of the question, often quite an 80’s sound! Also similar sounds to Spock’s Beard in places too, a very melodic take on prog strong choruses.

Michael Schenker has appeared on quite a few live recordings over the years — tops undoubtedly being UFO’s Strangers in the Night and MSG’s One Night at Budokan. But 2008 saw an archival multi-disc set of live/vintage Schenker, Mad Axeman Live, and while it may not scale the same heights as the UFO album (which is considered one of the top live hard rock/metal releases of all time), it is probably the best live solo Schenker release yet.
