MESSAGE (Dean Fasano) – Outside Looking In [Escape Music] (2000), MP3+FLAC, CD-Rip w/ Scans

MESSAGE was formed in 1980 by New Jerseyans Dean Fasano (vocals), guitarist Richie Sambora, and bass player Alec John Such. Yes, you know the guys, this is their early band before Bon Jovi. They released a self-financed mini-album, but MESSAGE broke up when Richie & Alec joined Jon’s band. The members of Message parted ways, but they would still stay in touch with each other for some time, with Fasano collaborating in some Bon Jovi albums.

A great singer, Dean Fasano (R.I.P.) then joined awesome cult band Prophet, releasing a classic album in mid-Eighties. But Fasano’s first love always was MESSAGE, and re-formed the band in the early ’90s.
The refreshed MESSAGE, now much more AOR oriented, released 3 albums being this “Outside Looking In” the last, appeared via European label Escape Music as at the time the American industry wasn’t interested in this type of melodic rock music.

For “Outside Looking In” Fasano worked with talented British Steve Morris (Gillan, Heartland) as producer & guitarist, also with gifted Chris Ousey (Virgina Wolf, Heartland) providing all harmonies and backing vocals. As we may suspect, the album sounds a lot like Hearland; smooth AOR / Melodic Rock with a polished sound. Think Journey too, a sound reminiscent of the last album with Steve Perry.
There’s top class songwriting on this record, Fasano co-writing with the likes of Paul Dean (Loverboy), Franke Previte (Franke and the Knockouts), Tommy DeRossi (ex Message, Journey), and more. MESSAGE even does a cover of ‘That’s Where My Love Goes’, a song written by Beau Hill & David Zychek in for their band Airborne and recorded in their cult self-titled 1979 debut.
With these credentials you now what “Outside Looking In” is all about; classy stuff crafted with elegance and good taste.
