Welcome To The Neighbourhood is created as a concept album as all the tracks are ordered to tell a story about a relationship throughout the years. The album was a follow-up to the mega hit Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell. The 2011 Collectors Edition includes additional 4 bonus tracks and a 2nd bonus disc recorded Live In Concert at the Beacon Theatre, New York 1995 (except track 10 & 11 recorded Live 1989).

Of the twelve songs on the original album, two are covers of songs from Jim Steinman projects; “Original Sin” first appeared on Pandora’s Box’s Original Sin album, and “Left in the Dark” first appeared on Steinman’s own album Bad for Good.
The release was remastered by Any Pearce.
