It developed from psychedelic rock and originated, similarly to art rock, as an attempt to give greater artistic weight and credibility to rock music.

Reign of Fire is a progressive/hard rock/metal band based in Bradenton Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada, consisting of Joe Booe on vocals, Rob Christman on guitars, keyboards and synthesizers, Pete Bartolomei on drums and Jim Davidge on bass. ROF have a 6 song self-titled EP, with influences across the metal and progressive rock spectrum.
