Progressive rock, also known as prog rock or prog, is a rock music subgenre that originated in the United Kingdom, with further developments in Germany, Italy, and France, throughout the mid-to-late 1960s and 1970s. It developed from psychedelic rock and originated, similarly to art rock, as an attempt to give greater artistic weight and credibility to rock music.

Jacob Roberge – The Passing (2025)


The album, entitled The Passing, is a progressive rock record with deep themes, the fruit of ten years’ work. It deals with themes of grief and remembrance, with a sound inspired by bands such as Porcupine Tree, Styx, Harmonium, Pink Floyd, Rush and many others. Comprising six tracks, the album includes the eponymous song, a 32-minute opus that traverses various musical genres and emotions as it explores the five stages of grief.
