Progressive rock, also known as prog rock or prog, is a rock music subgenre that originated in the United Kingdom, with further developments in Germany, Italy, and France, throughout the mid-to-late 1960s and 1970s. It developed from psychedelic rock and originated, similarly to art rock, as an attempt to give greater artistic weight and credibility to rock music.
Squackett – A Life Within A Day (2012)
Squackett, a portmanteau of the creators Chris SQUire and Steve HaCKETT combined names, is the project of the duo demonstrating their work together over the last few years.
Here for review is the 2012 release of their first project together as Squackett, an album that Steve Hackett looked to record by the sounds of the album between Out of The Tunnel’s Mouth and Beyond the Shrouded Horizon as there are elements of both of these projects of Steve’s within the writing, performance and production style. Mind you having Roger King on board was always going to make it easy to draw production similarities between Steve’s work and the Squackett project. But Roger works so well I cannot imagine the project having anyone else at the helm!
Mr. Gil – I Want You to Get Back Home (2012)
I Want You To Get Back Home CD music The fourth studio album by Mr Gil, a project led by Mirek Gil (ex-Collage, Believe). I Want You To Get Back Home music CDs The album brings the best, the most thoughtful compositions in the history of the band. Mirek Gil wrote wonderful, moving melodies. The words emphasize the atmosphere and tell a story of homecoming – of a travel which sometimes is not easy, but is still beautiful. The sound is perfectly complemented by the cello and piano..

Rush will return this summer with “Clockwork Angels,” the iconic prog-rock band revealed on Wednesday. The new album, due June 12, will be the trio’s first studio effort since 2007’s “Snakes & Arrows” and their debut for Anthem/Roadrunner Records.
For the new set, the band turned again to “Snakes & Arrows” co-producer Nick Raskulinecz and recorded in Nashville and Toronto. The conceptual set will trace a protagonist’s journey through a world of steampunk, alchemy and an exotic carnival; drummer and lyricist Neil Peart is also penning a novelization of the album with prolific author Kevin J. Anderson
Between albums, Rush has kept busy with a series of tours, documenting their most recent dates with the “Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland” live album and DVD last November. (They also made an appearance as the object of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel’s sonic affection in the 2009 film “I Love You, Man.”)
Fuchs – Leaving Home (2012)
Concept album about a family that has to leave their homeland in the confusion during World War II.
Fuchs, is really one person named: Hans-Jurgen Fuchs , I did not know of his existence until this cd arrived! One person I say, but there are guests and friends on this outing! Apparently Fuchs has been a very creative person and has indeed been the creative force behind his spouse´s solo work 4 albums released under the moniker: Inez (whom also contributes to this album) and I do remember coming across one of her albums some time ago! This album has well over an hour (see duration time) of listening stuff so much for quantity). I must say that it initially is a bland affair, the album opens with ” Long time ago” sort of singer/songwriter thing, nothing special, doesn’t work for me! “Summer We Come” on the other hand, has some more rock orientated sequences or sentences if you will, much more
