Standing Ovation – The antikythera mechanism 2012
now
I suppose naming your band Standing Ovation could be considered more than a little pretentious. What if you played your music and nobody gave you one? I don’t think this Finnish band will have that problem. Their first full length album, The Antikythera Mechanism is a fine collection of progressive metal.
The Moor – Year Of The Hunger 2012
now
Italian act The Moor sees a full-length debut titled “Year Of The Hunger” this coming November 16th, 2012 via Lion Music. The artwork for the release can now be viewed below. The 12 track “Year of the Hunger” is the follow-up to a five song self-titled EP, and vocalist/guitarist Enrico Longhin comments, “Year Of The Hunger is our first album, but we have been playing and releasing stuff with our old bands since 2000, that’s why there’s a maturity and complexity that is hard to find in other debut-releases.”
AFFIANCE – THE CAMPAIGN (2012)
now
It’s not too often that you’ll see “recommended if you like Iron Maiden, Bullet For My Valentine, and As I Lay Dying” when talking about one specific band, but that’s exactly what happened when I received the press sheet for Affiance’s sophomore album, The Campaign. With nearly two years between the band’s previous release entitled No Secrets Revealed and the forthcoming The Campaign, expectations seem to be fairly high amongst fans of the band. Two years is quite a while between albums, but I’m glad that Affiance took their time with this album because it shows that they wanted to improve and not release a half-assed album just to silence their pleading fans. The Campaign has a release date of November 13th through Bullet Tooth Records.
