Riverdogs – World Gone Mad 2011


I LOVE the Riverdogs’ first album. I think it represents Vivian Campbell’s best work outside of Dio’s first two albums. I also like how there are social and political themes on Riverdogs, but it’s subtle.

It has been 25 years since this fantastic album was released with a sound so characteristic of that era. What’s more, it has a sound more eighty than the time it was finally published. End of 1992. One when listening to this type of discs, longs for certain sounds that although being produced in a shining way transmits all the magic that to be lived in those years.

Quicksand Dream – Aelin – A Story About Destiny 2000


If any album can be classified as “cult”, it’s got to be Quicksand Dream’s Aelin – A Story About Destiny. Quicksand Dream, originally known as Epic Irae, muddled around in the underground on and off from 1988 to 2000, before recording a full-length. From that session came Aelin, which was originally released on CD-R with a handmade booklet, and limited to just 30 copies. Luckily for fans of obscure Heavy/Epic Metal everywhere, Planet Metal saw fit to give the album a proper release 10 years after the fact.
