Album-oriented rock (abbreviated AOR) is an American FM radio format focusing on album tracks by rock artists. AOR evolved from progressive rock radio in the mid-1970s, using research and formal programming to create an album rock format with greater commercial appeal.

It all started back in 2002 when Kurt Vereecke decided to make his dream come true by recording an AOR and melodic rock album. During the recordings more and more musicians got involved in the Frozen Rain project, including some of Kurt’s personal idols such as Tommy Denander (Radioactive), Steve Newman (Newman) and Daniel Flores (Mind’s Eye).

Originally released during the golden age of US Melodic Rock / AOR in 1984, the self-titled debut LP from curiously named Oakland based band BILLY SATELLITE may not have set the charts on fire – despite of having two moderate singles with both music videos aired on MTV – but did manage to register high on the AOR Richter scale.
