Glam rock (also known as glitter rock) is a style of rock and pop music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s, which was performed by singers and musicians who wore outrageous clothes, makeup and hairstyles, particularly platform-soled boots and glitter. The flamboyant costumes and visual styles of glam performers were often camp or androgynous, and have been connected with new views of gender roles.

Bands like Guns N ‘Roses had hardly existed in the same form without the glam band Hanoi Rocks, and its pioneering frontman Michael Monroe unleashed a large portion of hard rock in Los Angeles in the eighties and an endless stream of sprethåriga headbanger found a home in their music.
Gypsy Harbor – No Such Thing (1998)
Greenfield, Indiana Glam Rockers GYPSY HARBOR self financed the 1998 album ‘No Such Thing’, a girl-crazy, party metal at its finest. Gotta love any band that writes lyrics like “I won’t beat around your bush” and “there’s no such thing as too much sex”. Vocalist sounds like a cross between Bret Michaels of Poison and the dude from Roxx Gang.
Ana Black – She’s A Tease (1987)
AnA Black was a hair metal band with a glam image that was formed in 1983 in Canada. In 1985 they recorded their first demo called “Love Kills”. Later they released their only full length album in 1987 called “She’s A Tease”. After “She’s A Tease” was released, they had recorded a few more demos between 1988-1991, and later disbanded in 1996.

Founded in 1983 by the Frood brothers, ANA BLACK managed to generate a small amount of interest in their own backyard of Ontario as one of the early Sleaze / Glam acts in the area. After a 6 track, 1985, demo called ‘Love Kills’, the band released an independent, self-titled album on Ragged Records. The band soon faded into obscurity, although the vinyl debut does still command a decent price among collectors.
Hollywood Burnouts – Excess All Areas (2012)
Founded in 2008, Hollywood Burnouts accomplished what many other bands could only dream of. They played national and international shows with bands like Cinderella, Bonfire, Hardcore Superstar, Crashdiet, Dokken, Stage Dolls and many others. Hollywood Burnouts stand for melodic hard rock that is influenced by glam/sleaze and even blues and heavy metal.
