Folk metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal music that developed in Europe during the 1990s, a fusion of heavy metal and traditional folk music. This includes the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech).

Tanita Tikaram – Can’t Go Back (2012) 2CD

multi-million selling British singer songwriter, who shot to fame with her award winning album ‘Ancient Heart’ in 1988, featuring hit songs ‘Twist In My Sobriety’ and ‘Good Tradition’, returns with her seventh studio album ‘Can’t Go Back‘, to be released worldwide in July via earMUSIC (Edel).

The album features some of America’s most exciting modern soul musicians, and was lovingly crafted by producer Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann, Grant Lee Phillips, Nina Nastasia) at Sound Factory in Los Angeles.

The musicians included Bryan himself as well as keyboardist Keefus Ciancia (B.B. King, T.Bone Burnett, Elton John, Everlast), Ray LaMontagne’s drummer Jay Bellerose and long term friend and guitarist Mark Creswell. Guest vocals come from American folk singer songwriter Grant Lee Phillips.
