Deadlights – Tired Eyes, Restless Mind 2012

Now!

I’m giving this a 4. to me, the only reason I can’t score a 5 for this band’s songs at the moment is that the screamo vocals are not up to the league of the clean. This band will no doubt score some airplay but it’s mainly the clean vocals setting it aside from other bands. This guy’s voice is really strong, and does really interesting harmonies. The music is very good. Great job, don’t take what I said about the screamo too harshly.

Icarus Witch – Rise 2012

On July 3, Cleopatra Records will release the fifth studio record from Pittsburgh, PA-based melodic metallers Icarus Witch. RISE is an epic twelve-track display of songwriting and musicianship from one of the most-watched heavy music bands of the decade.

From the driving, anthemic “(We Are) The New Revolution” to its equally commanding following track “Rise,” Icarus Witch demonstrates impeccable harmonies, head-spinning dual guitar work, and hammering rhythm. Lyrically, the band is digging deep into themes of control (loss of, and taking it back), empowerment (within and without), and faith (and keeping it).

GARY SCHUTT – Puppets In Symmetry 2012

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist GARY SCHUTT, best known for his work with JEFF SCOTT SOTO, has a new album coming out via Palisade Records.
Much like Gary¹s 2006 releases, B-Sides Myslef and Dramatially Acoustic, this compilation is a time filler for his fans until his next full release. Gary has been busy working with other bands on his Palisade Record label (ALWAYS AT WAR, THE METAL HEDZ, E19 and CENTRAL NERVE) and touring with his cover band, CATEGORY THREE.

DORCHA – ANOTHER WORLD 2010

Now!Exclusive!

Every town across America in the 80’s and early 90’s had its own unique local hard rock/heavy metal scene, and Nashville was no exception. And during those years, there was one mainstay that ruled the Nashville Hard Rock Scene, regardless of the countless name changes, formations and deformations, and revolving doors. The core of that mainstay was the Simmonz brothers: Mike, Paul, and Jamie. Now to tell you the story of the Simmonz Brothers would be a book in and of itself, so we will merely touch on the genius of the Simmonz brothers and a few of their band mates in the next few paragraphs.

FUTURE SHOCK – FUTURE SHOCK EP 2012

Now!Exclusive!

From a glance at their picture, this band seems to be too young to have a sound with the feeling of late Seventies and early Eighties hard rock. But this small five song EP finds Future Shock channeling some entertaining classic rock.

Fortunately, Future Shock has the chops, the musicianship, to develop this sound in a fresh way, avoiding, would could be, the possibility of cliche or homage. Future Shock gets to root of hard rock: big riffs, strong sense of melody, nice hooks and, notably, a strong groove.
