The history of Portugal’s female-fronted metal band Enchantya is a bit confusing. The promotional material states they have been around since 2004, but then list a back catalog of three albums between 2001 and 2003. What? The material then announces that Dark Rising is their debut album for Massacre Records. Confused?

If I would have known Enchantya included death vocals in their arrangements I probably would not have downloaded the digital promo pack. Nearly every song has moments of this horrible growling. It’s nearly pathetic, some of the worst death metal vocals I’ve ever heard, even as accent. It’s notable in the press material that no credit is given to the person responsible. That’s good as whomever this is should be canned immediately, and the band should think twice about this direction for the vocal arrangements in the future. It simply does not become them.

Janey Clewer released FALLEN FOR BRAZIL on Vivid Sound in Japan, April 4th, 2012. This release includes 3 new songs added to her collection of neo-Brazilian songs as well as revised mixes and fully mastered tracks. ?Simultaneously,Janey released on Vivid Sound a new compilation CD called“LOVE”. The CD includes selected tracks from her previous solo CDs and 4 new songs, including a special bonus track, “If Only For Tonight” for the tsunami relief efforts. The title track, “Love”, includes performances by a cast of singers including Peter Cetera, Marc Jordan, Bill Champlin, Tamara Champlin, Jaimee Paul, Joe Chemay and Janey.

“Bayless” was formed in 2009 out of Wichita, KS. Formerly known as “Jared Bayless Band” (co-lead singer Jared Bayless), “Bayless” formed with the addition of Jared’s wife Vanessa’s vocals becoming an intricate part of the band’s sound. “Bayless” has quickly become an up and coming band, sharing the stage with the likes of Thousand Foot Krutch, Disciple, Building 429, Mikeschair, Chasen, to name a few. The combination of powerful melody lines, heavy guitar riffs blended with piano and toe tapping rhythms, “Bayless” has caught the attention of many listeners abroad.

“LOVE” is a beautiful collection of melodic, soulful love songs selected from my first 4 solo CDs. It also includes 3 new tracks and a special bonus track especially written and recorded for Japan. The concept of the CD is to feature some of my favorite singers, songwriters and musicians I have had the honor of working with over the years, capture a bit of my solo history that features them, and release a few new songs to keep it fresh.

Like a visceral response to the mainstream, Reign of Thought fights back against the hum of the mediocre with their very own pandemonium of soaring melodies, powerful rhythms, complex composition, and dramatic storytelling. With the recent addition of members, Justin Merolla (drums), and Shawn Dandrew (bass), it is without a doubt that this is the beginning of an incredible adventure.

Hailing from New York’s Capital District, this five-piece groundbreaking progressive metal project has a variety of experiences and musical influences which culminate in an innovative sound and texture. Rheia is the creation of Swiss song-writing sound engineer and keyboardist Pascale Peng. Over the course of a couple of years she gradually recorded these songs with a cast of carefully chosen musicians. The band name she has chosen is taken from the Greek goddess Rheia (or Rhea), the daughter of the Earth, who gave birth to the Greek Pantheon of gods, including the rulers of Heaven and Hell, Zeus and Hades. However, this is not an concept album, and the lyrics are about a wide variety of topics. The closest I can get to describing her totally unique but hugely appealing music is try imagining a touch of Within Temptation symphonic metal being propelled along by The Cars’ driving rhythms, then add OMD’s synths and pop sensibilities, and finally top with Nena on vocals to
