As usual in this genre, the album begins with a nice intro, spoken beautifully by a delicate female voice, which promises a journey to a land of dreams. The mood that “The Prologue” sparked in me was rather “Alice in Wonderland” as in “Alice in Murderland” – but rather

“WIPE!!” is an album with very strong and unpleasant themes, played with an irreverent fruit of decades of music experience and marked by its bombastic production. Stylistically, songs sound like a mixture of Malmsteen?s Rising Force, Judas Priest, Masterplan, Crimson Glory, Vicious Rumors, Jag Panzer and Mötley Crüe.

Ouijabeard is the side project of Dr. Living Dead vocalist Dr. Ape, and Die and Let Live is quite the departure from the thrash metal of his main gig. This basically early Eighties style melodic heavy metal inspired by, according to Ape, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Kiss’s The Elder, though I’m not sure that last one is worth admitting to. Ape also treats some of the history and myths associated with the infamous Russian mystic Grigorij Rasputin.

German power metallers GAMMA RAY will release “Skeletons & Majesties Live” on double CD, Blu-ray and DVD on November 30. The set will feature footage of the band’s April 29, 2011 performance at the legendary Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland.

“Skeletons & Majesties Live” has a playing time of two hours and is a tour de force through the band’s history so far, including lots of hits and classics, but also tracks which were undeservedly under-represented to date.
