NEVERMORE – Original Album Collection 2015 (3 CD)

1000x1000
In the heavy metal community writers toss around the monikers “legend” and “genre defying” to describe many bands, but these terms have never been more accurate if they are referring to NEVERMORE, who perfectly carved out their own unique niche. This group’s sound encompasses every element of the metal spectrum and is like no other band within their genre.

Ancore – Broken Gain 2015

Ancore - Broken Gain
ANCORE from Styria are the some readers may be familiar, as the young men have rocked the stage already in the “Big Chance” in the ORF. And for that matter, this happened in a very authentic and surprisingly fresh way. I had the pleasure to review the previous releases of the band and felt their mix of rock, metal and metalcore as entertaining and high quality music.

Eltharia – Innocent 2015

Eltharia - Innocent
In 2001, the first members of ELTHARIA found together, a power metal band from France. It took another year, until the complete line-up was together. Coming from different directions (Thrash, Punk Rock, Pop Rock, etc.) were found quickly a common denominator: Metal, a lot of technology in the compositions has (Programming, Keyboard), yet full power and clout has. So to speak a mixture of power and symphonic metal.

The Crunch – Brand New Brand 2015

The Crunch - Brand New Brand 2015
The term ‘Supergroup’ is thrown around with wild abandon these days, with almost any coming together of artists with the slightest of celebrated histories being bigged up by their respective PR representative. You would, though, be a bit of a simpleton if the ‘S’ word didn’t cross your mind when thinking of The Crunch.

Area51 – Judge The JOKER 2015

Area51 - Judge The JOKER 2015
Formed in 2003 by Japanese guitar wunderkind Yoichiro Ishino, Area51 – despite previous collaborations with the likes of vocalist Rob Rock and producer James Borgen – so far have made little if any impact outside the founder’s homeland. That could be about to change with this, the project’s fourth album, thanks to the recruitment of Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren, Symphony X bassist Mike LePond and renowned session keyboard whizz Matt Guillory (best known for his work with James LaBrie’s solo band).
