As requested, here’s BRYAN ADAMS 2004’s underrated album ”Room Service”. This is the reissue by Adam’s own record label Bad Records, including two extra tracks, including the original Japanese edition bonus.
There’s something comforting about a musician like Bryan Adams. While he may not being doing anything particularly innovative, his ability to continue to produce the sort of music he was making four decades ago is at least enjoyable. If you’re not a fan, you probably never will be, but if you are, Adam’s ”Room Service” should be just what you expected.
While in the Nineties Bryan Adams stopped producing enough of the rock&pop that made him famous in favor of cheesy ballads and easy listening nightmares, thankfully ”Room Service” is a departure from this. Musically somewhere between the very good 1991’s ‘Waking Up The Neighbours’ and 1998’s ‘On a Day Like Today’, this album will please all Adams fans.
With ‘Room Service’ Adams revisited his pop-rock roots and combines that sound with a more earthy style, including acoustic guitars. The result is a pleasing album of upbeat rockers with balladesque.
This album proves that – at the time – after almost 25 year on the music scene, Bryan Adams was still a down-home Canadian boy at heart. He’s the kind of guy who writes songs about love, his guitar, and the open road (Track 6).
That first single “Open road” sounds like something that could’ve been written during the ‘Into the Fire’ sessions and the rockers “She’s A Little Too Good For Me” and title track “Room Service” have that typical B.A. trademark a la ‘Waking Up The Neighbours’, even though Mutt Lange wasn’t involved in those two songs – Mutt produced another song, the ballad “Flying” which feels like the cousin to his classic “Heaven”.
Not a classic from the master of pop/rock but a real good piece of work without doubt.
