BEYOND FREQUENCIES was founded by songwriter & singer Blazy Flash, a female artist with Norwegian and German roots who grew up in Switzerland, who pursues her vision of creating a fresh sound, a hybrid of different genres. This combination gives Beyond Frequencies its unique style: too clean for metal, too edgy for rock and too rough for pop.
In short, Beyond Frequencies bridges the gap between pop and metal music. Blazy describes her music with a wink as «Heavy Pop». After all, the term pop is an acronym for popular – and metal is more popular than ever.
BEYOND FREQUENCIES are releasing their new album “Me Megalomaniac“, but this the physical Limited Edition 2-Disc also including the band’s 2020 debut “Megalomania” for the first time on CD.
BEYOND FREQUENCIES delivers effective, short songs with a clear radio focus, as on ”Me Megalomaniac” opener titled ‘Good’, a cool, catchy modern rock song which stays in your mind at first listen. ‘Not Done Yet’ is a bit more melodic, but is also driven by rather stomping drums and keyboard fills
On ‘Burning Bridges’ the guitars start firing their chords after some 40 seconds with the first chorus and almost feel a bit of angry about that delayed shift. The contrast between the almost pop-ish and ballad-alike verses and the energetic, straight-forward chorus leads to a nice characteristic, with Blazy showcasing her voice variation.
There’s a vibe on ‘Under My Skin’ a track with a modern production however a classic rock-song structure.
‘Dark & Stormy’ mix pop with heavy guitars – the band’s axeman Juan Jeanpierre is a skilled player creating strong rhythm guitar riffs – an upbeat rocker with the vocal upfront and again, a catchy chorus.
‘Swipe Right’… is that the new official anthem for Tinder in Switzerland? At least, Blazy states that ”All you have to do is swipe right” and the song suggests that it is really a good decision. Everything you ever wanted, you got it at your fingertips – the band is really turning nowadays dating culture and the way you deal with media into a great listen.
On ‘All In’ the guitars are strumming and howling a bit more than they do in other songs. This leads to an interesting, slightly different track. The 2:44 minutes ‘Vicious Game is the shortest track from the album, but the straight rock punch with Blazy’s distinctive voice leaves a mark. Good one.
The closing track ‘Made of Glass’ is not only the longest song of the album, but also the song any rock album needs: a ballad. A well done pop-rock mid-paced tune including electric / acoustic guitars, some synth strings and Blazy’s voice as center focus.
Swiss rockers BEYOND FREQUENCIES have a defined sound pretty much of their own, mixing modern with classic in the songwriting, and modern but catchy on the production side. Blazy Flash / Melanie Schweickardt voice is the focus, however the guitar riffs take predominance on various tracks.
Their debut album ‘Megalomania’ is offered on this limited edition and is a nice bonus, good songs with catchy melodies.
