Linked to The B’zz remastered reissue album we featured yesterday, here’s in exclusive the Bad Reputation Records remastered reissue (first time on CD) of American rockers THE BOYZZ 1978’s album “Too Wild To Tame“. After the band dissoluted a couple of years after, 3 members later formed The B’zz.
Based in Chicago, The Boyzz were a true biker bar band with a distinct Southern Rock feel and a gritty hard rock attack. Fronted by the flambouyant Dirty Dan Buck, the band cut just this one album for Epic Records, ‘Too Wild To Tame’, which, although did not sell in numbers enough to maintain their deal, rapidly became an underground classic.
The Boyzz had a unique late Seventies rock sound that presented every instrument to give a full, orchestra-like experience. ‘Dirty’ Dan Buck’s blasting vocals, insane keyboards from Anatole Halinkovich, and Mike Tafoya’s guitar wizardry combine with Dave Angel’s driving bass, Gil Pini’s powerful monster rhythm guitar and Kent Cooper pushing it all forward on drums.
This album captures Chicagoland’s greatest live rock band preserved in an outstanding recording. One of the best biker-band rock & roll albums ever made.
All songs are very well crafted, musically superior to what you might expect from a biker band. These guys are the embodiment of hard-core rock & roll.
Not one bad song in the bunch and many are flat out rockers, like “Going back to Kansas” and the title song “Too Wild to Tame”. Dirty Dan has a distinctive voice, perfect for this brand of street hard rock — and the lyrics are a lot of fun.
If you like your classic hard rock with that ’70s feeling, riff-driven guitars, lively rhythm section and crazy vocals, on The Boyzz’s “Too Wild To Tame” you’ll find a lot to enjoy.
