QUIET RIOT – 2 Live Biscuits [2 Radio Shows King Biscuit Flower Hour 1983 & 1984], MP3+FLAC

As requested, here a pretty rare and really good release: QUIET RIOT : ”2 Live Biscuits [2 Radio Shows King Biscuit Flower Hour 1983 & 1984]”. Released by Austrian quality bootleg label “Cannonball”, this double-CD packs, as promised in the tin, two shows professionally recorded to be aired by the excellent KBFH radio show.

This is more than a bootleg – in fact, these are the best QUIET RIOT live recordings we ever heard, better than the official live albums.
Disc 1 was captured at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, CA, May 6th, 1983, and Disc 2, San Antonio Civic Center, TX, Oct. 19th, 1984. While the 1984 show surfaced on many bootlegs, the 1983 Perkins Palace performance is pretty rare, captured only two months after “Metal Health” was released.
Sound quality on both shows is fantastic, multi-track recordings where everything comes crystal clear, a true live recording but where you can actually hear all instruments / voices perfectly mixed. Rudy Sarzo’s bass just kills.
”2 Live Biscuits [2 Radio Shows King Biscuit Flower Hour 1983 & 1984]” isn’t available anymore, no streaming. A phenomenal 2-disc set from the mighty Quiet Riot.

A couple of months prior to the show being recorded in May of 1983, Quiet Riot was just a LA-based metal bar band, armed with guitars, make-up, spandex pants, and lots of hairspray. Their rise to fame coincided with MTV and the fact that the innovative music channel was looking for bands that were big on fashion and short of musical depth: feel-good, party rock.
Thanks to a hit borrowed from the U.K.’s glam rockers Slade, Quiet Riot soon became staples of the FM rock radio scene.

This May 6th, 1983, show was performed two months after the band rose to prominence, and it is clear they still had not tightened their musical chops. However, lead singer Kevin Dubrow more than makes up for that with his undeniable stage charisma.
Additionally, and while the band isn’t that oiled yet as on the other 1984 show, there’s some kind of magic, a still semi-pro performance that makes this our favorite Quiet Riot live recording ever.

Recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour while Quiet Riot was promoting ‘Metal Health’, this show presents the picture-perfect MTV rockers at a time when their popularity was at a peak. “Breathless,” “Danger Zone,” “Run For Cover,” “Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet,” “Cum On Feel The Noize,” and show closer “Metal Health (Bang Your Head),” are all here, making this a greatest hits show for the band that exemplified the glam metal scene of early-’80s Los Angeles.

Disc 2 was recorded in 1984 for the King Biscuit Flower Hour while Quiet Riot was promoting its fourth release, ‘Condition Critical’. “Party All Night,” “Condition Critical,” “Run For Cover,” “Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet,” “Cum On Feel The Noize,” “Metal Health (Bang Your Head),” and “Mama Weer All Crazee Now” are among the track list.
At the time Quiet Riot still was one of the biggest acts in the U.S. and Europe. The band’s radio success and ability to fill arenas would be short-lived, and after 1985 never again duplicated despite dozens of reunions and reformations with other members.
