As requested, here’s the LITTLE RIVER BAND 1986’s album “No Reins“, remastered with a crystal clear sound and including two bonus tracks. LRB is one of Australia’s most successful bands achieving commercial success in both Australia and the United States. They have sold more than 30 million records, and while their peak was in the late Seventies, the group continued releasing impressive albums.

In 1982 original vocalist Glenn Shorrock left Little River Band and resumed his solo career. John Farnham took the mic slot, and with him the band recorded three LP’s.
“No Reins” is considered one of Little River Band’s best works, and one of the most AOR tinged – it was 1986. This album packs some of the best harmonies ever recorded into tape, complete with elegant guitars and lush keyboards. Just listen to ‘It’s Just A Matter Of Time’ – this is AOR gold powder.

The songs are uniformly strong, with band leader Graham Goble turning in some of his best tunes ever, particularly with “No Reins On Me”, “How Many Nights”, “Forever Blue”, and the aforementioned catchy “It’s Just A Matter Of Time”.
New drummer Steve Prestwich hands them his classic Cold Chisel ballad “When The War Is Over” and Farnham nails it, making this easily the definitive version. Bassist / vocalist Wayne Nelson (Best known for handling lead vocals on the 1981 smash “The Night Owls”) doesn’t let the side down with his contributions (“Time For Us” and “Thin Ice”) either.

Shortly after this album Farnham decamped to rekindle his solo career, which reached greater heights than ever in his native Australia. Original lead vocalist Glenn Shorrock returned to the fold for a couple of albums.
Fans of sophisticated, harmony-drenched ’80s AOR need to have ‘No Reins ’86 [Remastered +2]’ – and the bonuses are a plus too. Certainly if you are a fan of John Farnham too, this album should be in your collection – these are among the best songs he’s ever sung.
