SILVER NIGHTMARES (lead vocals Göran Edman) – Roxy Passion (2025) EP

Formed in Palermo, Italy in 2018 by bassist Gabriele Esposito, drummer Alessio Maddaloni and keyboardist Gabriele
Taormina, rock band SILVER NIGHTMARES went through several configurations until arriving at its current line-up with Diego La Mantia at charge of electric & acoustic guitars. Their music style drew from a wide variety of influences including progressive rock, AOR, trad metal and hard rock.

SILVER NIGHTMARES already released an independent album three years ago but after replacing the guitarist they needed new singer too, and the guys decided to give the band a more international exposure: they asked fantastic Swedish singer Göran Edman to perform the new songs for they just released work titled “Roxy Passion“.
And darn, everything Edman touches turns to gold. But you need good songs too to make it work, and SILVER NIGHTMARES are wonderful writers and imaginative players.

Don’t be fooled by the cover art – yeah, “Roxy Passion” is fun melodic hard rocker about women, drinks and rok n’ roll, and Göran smokes – but for the most part SILVER NIGHTMARES’ music has a much more progressive AORsish feeling, embellished by vintage analog synths and a classy production.
Then you need to hear Edman on the really well written ”The Blue Light of a Star”. A great tune and a marvelous interpretation by this awesome vocalist, providing for a deeply moving blues-infused vocal – astounding as ever – with pianos, synths and effects filling the senses.

”Cats on the Run” is an instrumental, and a showcase to taste how good these musicians are. With a stormy start and a screaming Moog before swirling keys announce the song, a complex rhythm section appears. As we move past the opening minute, there is a distinctly funky feel to the track as if the felines are on the march down the street in perfect rhythmic harmony. The bass is deep, the guitar riffs singing the cats tale, the soundscapes created huge. Playful – the sound of a band thoroughly enjoying their craft.

We’re pleasantly surprised by SILVER NIGHTMARES, their musical ideas, the classic instruments, the quality songwriting. Of course having a great vocalist as Edman is a plus
